Apples
Pakistan produced 649,290 tons of apples which is higher than the 5-year average yield. With the cleft-grafting methods to diversify apple variety per tree and application of proper nutrition, as well as use of modern preventive measures like mechanized and timely pruning, selecting diploid variety of pollinizers to assist insect pollination and using nylon nets during hailstorms the production is deemed to continue rising exponentially to meet world apple demand. In Pakistan, tissue-culture practice of growing apples is currently being tested by National Genebank of Pakistan (NGP) and 44 successful plants were forwarded to the governemnt . The NGP greatly reduces the risk of disease infestation among plants and facilitate its early production through scion regeneration.
